David Neivert

What would life be without art?

When the world of New Media meets the mind of an artist, things happen. I met Dave back when I was New Media myself, and his work has only gotten better and better.

David grew up in Ossining, New York. He began in the field of fine arts, taking private art lessons in painting, sculpture, printmaking and the likes while he was a kid with local art legend *Millie Adler*. Upon discovering his first computer, he became fascinated with the technological capability to create art-and his new work was born. "I basically became totally obsessed with computers, and got bored with the old sitting down and painting/drawing. The 21st century drew me in to the ability to create art."

He currently attends SUNY Purchase for a degree in New Media, and I'm sure he will make a name for himself in the very near future. Interestingly, Davids older brother ventures into the opposite direction of art. An art professor at  Jacksonville University in Florida, Matteo Neivert has made a name for himself through his quirky sculptures and beautifull paintings.

Daves Website should be up and running soon, Ill be sure to update!

Alex Grey

Here is an artist that is not completely out on a limb as far as medium goes: a contemporary painter whose themes are strongly psychedelic and revolve around spiritualism and "the voyage of the body and mind". An interesting character who has been painting since he was 3 years old, Alex Grey paints in an incredible fashion.

Although I don't buy into the mystification myself, his works are undoubtedly incredible and beautiful. He uses special x-ray glasses and a high-tech brush to hand-paint all the details of his paintings--yup. All done by hand, no photoshop or anything.

Check out the "Sacred Mirrors" collection on his site. It is an internationally-acclaimed collection of giant "mirrors" representing different stages of the human body and the energy chakras and stages that go along with it. You don't have to be spiritual to see how cool these are!
